Cal-Quake Engineering, Inc. was founded in 2001 by Greg L. Gavasse, MSSE, P.E. who is currently the CEO and President. With over 30 years of experience, Greg is a trusted expert in structural engineering, seismic risk evaluations, and building evaluations/construction. Holding a Master of Science in Structural Engineering from San Jose State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Business from UC Santa Barbara, Greg is also a registered Professional Engineer and licensed General Engineering and General Building Contractor in California.
Greg has completed more than 10,000 Seismic Risk Assessments (SRAs), Property Condition Assessments (PCAs), seismic retrofit designs, construction monitoring, structural evaluations, and design projects across a wide range of property types. These include high-rise buildings, industrial facilities, commercial centers, hospitals, retail complexes, multi-family developments, and bridges. His expertise spans ASTM, HUD, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac reporting standards, ensuring compliance and precision with every project.

High-Rise Expertise: Comprehensive engineering assessments for iconic structures like the 777 Tower in Los Angeles, CA, a 52-story landmark, covering structural systems and seismic evaluation.
Industrial Portfolios: Evaluation of vast facilities, including a 1.8 million sq. ft. industrial facility in Riverside, CA. The investigation included analysis of the pavement, drainage, roofing, life safety, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and structural systems. A seismic risk assessment (SRA) was also performed.
Design-Build Leadership: Magnolia Street Improvement, Burbank, CA: Project Director in charge of contract administration, construction scheduling and monitoring, contract change orders, and claims negotiations. This public works project involved the removal and replacement of six city blocks, which included new streets, utilities, hardscape, landscape, kiosks, street lighting, bus shelters, site furnishings, and associated structures.
Award-Winning Construction Projects: Responsible for the construction and development of a large commercial project for Syntex Pharmaceutical Corporation. This two-year project involved the building of a pharmaceutical lab, child daycare center, and security building.
